Inside CMA CGM
CMA CGM was built by Jacques Saadé, who founded CMA in 1978 and merged it with the historic CGM in the late 1990s to create France’s flagship carrier. Headquartered in Marseille beneath its landmark tower, it is today the third-largest container line and a diversified logistics group.
The group is known for early adoption of LNG propulsion — its Jacques Saadé-class flagships were the first 23,000-TEU vessels running on liquefied natural gas — and for expanding well beyond the sea through CEVA Logistics, air cargo and terminal investments.
