The story

Inside HMM

Founded in 1976 as Hyundai Merchant Marine, the company rebranded to HMM in 2020 as it emerged from restructuring to become South Korea’s dominant container line. Its comeback was powered by a fleet of mega-ships built with state support.

The HMM Algeciras class briefly held the title of world’s largest container ship on delivery in 2020. HMM is a member of the Premier Alliance.
